Voice Gateways

The Sangoma ranges of telephony gateways enables businesses to bridge two or more different methods of voice communications together. For example VoIP, BRI, PRI, and Analogue.

Depending on the gateway selected and set up these can bring many advantages to users. These may include cost savings on calls using least cost routing, no need to upgrade legacy telephony equipment just connect them to VoIP, or for resilience incase of power or connectivity failure by using PSTN lines for failover and maintaining communication.

Overview

Analogue or BRI Media Gateway

The Vega 50 media gateway connects a range of legacy telephony equipment, including PBXs, ISDN telephones, the ISDN, analog phones & the PSTN to IP networks. The Vega 50 media gateway supports up to 10 analog ports, or 8 basic rate ISDN channels on 4 physical interfaces.

If you use a BRI interface model,they can be independently configured as network side or terminal side. The Vega 50 media gateway can, therefore, be connected to both a PBX & the ISDN simultaneously. This configuration provides:

ENP - Enhanced Network Proxy (Optional)

This option enables continuity of service during WAN/SIP outage and may be configured to operate in a number of ways including:

  • Standalone proxy
  • IP device survivability
  • IP device call routing
  • Emergency call routing
  • SIP to SIP call routing
 

Open, Non-Proprietary Interfaces

Vega 50 media gateways support ETSI BRI. Analogue Vega 50 media gateways support standard loop start signalling. Vega 50 media gateways have proven interoperability with a wide range of existing telecommunications and VoIP equipment. All VegaStream gateways can support SIP, H.323 & T.38 FAX. The gateways can be configured for different country requirements, such as tones and line impedance.

Lifeline PSTN Backup

Vega 50 media gateway variants equipped with FXS ports are also fitted with two FXO ports. When powered the Vega can route calls to or from these two FXO ports. Under power failure conditions the two FXO ports provide a hard-wired bypass to two FXS ports allowing PSTN calls to be made even under this failure condition.

E1/T1 Digital Media Gateway

The Vega 100 VoIP gateway connects digital telephony equipment to IP networks. Each unit comes configured with capacity for 30 simultaneous calls. This unit cannot be expanded beyond 30 simultaneous calls. (Need more calls? Take a look at the Vega 200)

The available Sangoma Resiliency Enablement Suite (SRES) makes the Vega 100 the most resilient gateway in it is class. In the event of a WAN failure, IP phones behind the Vega gateway can continue to call each other, be routed to a backup switch or connected directly to the PSTN. In addition, the use of the Sangoma Network Appliance Provisioning (SNAP) tool makes the Vega 100 the easiest to provision gateway on the market.

Each E1/T1 interface can be independently configured as network side or terminal side. The Vega 100 gateway can therefore be connected to a PBX or the PSTN. This configuration provides no disruption to the configuration of existing equipment, flexibility & choice for call routing.

E1/T1 ISDN 30 - Digital Media Gateway

The Vega 400G is a next generation ISDN 30 VoIP gateway superseding the old Vega 400 system. The new system is even better value for money than its predecessor and is also easy to provision using Sangoma's online SNAP (Sangoma Network Appliance Provisioning) tool. The Vega 400G is available in versions allowing 30, 60, 90 or 120 simultaneous calls. Systems can be upgraded from 30 channels to 60, 90 or 120 channels using licences at a later stage, this makes it an ideal solution for a growing business. In the event of a WAN failure the Local Survivability* feature will let the IP phones behind the gateway call each other, be routed to a back up switch or through the PSTN. The Vega 400G is perfect for redundancy and failover scenarios.
